Under the theme of duos, beyond +1. With the sports duo of the hour on thee cover, Laura Stacey and Marie-Philip Poulin, professional hockey players, lstw devotes an entire section to women’s hockey.

“With the success of the new Professional Women’s Hockey League, we could not miss the opportunity to finally talk about sport throughout our pages,” underlines Florence Gagnon, founder, co-editor in chief and co-creative director of lstw. “The fact that Laura and Marie-Philip chose to share their story with lstw also demonstrates the strong connection between 2SLGBTQIA+ communities and women’s sports.”

The two players from the Montreal LPHF team, world and Olympic champions, share how they went from teammates to wives. They openly describe how they navigate relationship dynamics while playing on the same team and often on the same line, address competitiveness in their elite athlete couple and share their aspirations to leave a significant mark in their sport and in society.

lstwalso brought on LPHF Defender of the Year Erin Ambrose as guest section editor. The magazine also highlights Concordia University Stingers coach and former American player, Julie Chu, as well as goalkeeper Carly Jackson (LPHF Toronto).

Queer voices
The pages of the magazine reveal many forms of addition of two entities through various perspectives which contribute to deconstructing stereotypes.

“This new issue of the magazine perfectly reflects the solidarity between queer cultures. We noticed a great collaboration and a convergence of universes, which produced an extremely positive energy,” specifies Florence Gagnon. “Our intention was also to highlight people who have long been invisible, particularly older lesbians.”
